Enjoy the true beauty of New South Wales’ vast inland river systems by taking an exciting canoe or kayak trip.  In the area there are many Crown land reserves along the trail where you can camp overnight, stop for lunch or just take a well-earned rest.

Macquarie River Walk
Beginning at the bottom of Tamworth Street, through parkland on the eastern bank of the river you'll find the pleasant Macquarie River Walk.
Art Work - LH Ford Bridge
See public art  - indigenous paintings, contemporary and traditional Aboriginal murals on the LH Ford Bridge pylons.
Aboriginal artist Lewis Burns runs courses which involves participants from TAFE and probation and parole.
The LH Ford Bridge is Dubbo's main east/west traffic thoroughfare across the Macquarie River - .

Picnics, BBQ's, Playgrounds
Lions Park West - On the banks of the Macquarie River picnic here with ten free electric barbecues.  Also available is a playground, public toilets and a boat ramp for access to the Macquarie River.
Sandy Beach - a very popular picnicking, fishing and swimming area with good access to the
River. Retreat and enjoy nature at this beautiful, quiet spot, close to Dubbo city.
Sandy Beach is the home of the Dubbo Dragon Boat Club and the Dubbo Canoe Club.
Sir Roden Cutler Park - a viewing platform looking out over the Macquarie River.  Picnic tables, shelters and public toilets.  The Tracker Riley Cycleway passes by here on its way to Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Reserves - Picnics, Fishing, Swimming, Bird Watching, Bushwalking.
Terramungamine Reserve - On the banks of the Macquarie River picnic here with ten free electric barbecues.  Also available is a playground, public toilets and a boat ramp for access to the Macquarie River.
Redbank Reserve- further along Burraway Road from Terramungamine.  A beach area easily accessible for swimming, fishing and bush camping.
Dickigundi Reserve - entrance is a dirt road, approximately 15km west of Dubbo, running north from the Mitchell Highway.  Bush camping, fishing and swimming sheltered by tall red gums.
Dundullimal Reserve - a riverside reserve on the south western side of Dubbo City good for  picnicking, bird watching and fishing.  Tracker Riley cycleway extends to Dundullimal from the Western Plains Zoo.
Pilchers Reserve - on Old Dubbo Road - turn right at the winery onto Angle Road, take the next right past the cemetery to the River.  Has a shingle beach and good boating conditions.
Butlers Fall Reserve - past Pilchers Reserve and the Pioneer Cemetery - see Butlers Reserve signposted to the right.  Has a sandy beach front, with great swimming, boating, BBQ's and toilets.
Bril Bral Reserve - also on Old Dubbo Road, 21 kms south of Dubbo.  A red and green council sign marks the lane - through gates and over a grid - then onto the river.

Dundullimal Reserve - Dundullimal Homestead.

Reserves - away from the Macquarie River
Coolbaggie Creek - on the eastern side of the Newell Highway where it crosses Coolbaggie Creek.
Jones Creek Reserve- on Old Mendooran Road, 2 kms south of Mendooran Road, 9kms north of the Golden Highway.  A spring fed creek - bird watching, walking, flowers in Spring.
Wongarbon Tank Reserve - a 30 ha reserve with a large dam and grasslands and a large range of native birds and animals.  A pathway for walking with wildflowers in Springtime.
Cumboogla Flora Reserve- 12 kms down the Obley Road, past Bellevue Road, then the next dirt driveway on your left.  A patch of grassy White Box Woodland with wonderful plant diversity and a spectacular showing of Spring flowers. (This is an endangered ecosystem)
Wahroonga Park - in South Dubbo. Large areas of shade with free BBQ's, shelters, picnic settings, public toilets, modern playground.
Relax and enjoy a variety of activities along the beautiful tree-lined Macquarie River that runs through Dubbo and some of the many other Parks and Reserves in the Dubbo area.
