PRINCIPAL PRODUCE OF THE AREA: - fat lambs and beef cattle, cereal cropping including wheat, barley, canola, field peas and lupins as well as citrus and wine grapes.  Boutique wineries are one of the best-kept secrets of the Dubbo area - Lazy River Estate, Red Earth Estate and Tombstone Estate Vineyard.
Heading towards Dunedoo the rural area surrounding the villages of Ballimore and Elong Elong have tomatoes, pistachio nuts and organic farming.

Existing manufacturers within Dubbo centre around food and metal industry manufacturing.
Dubbo is home to a number of national food manufacturers, including Fletchers International, Australia's largest supplier of sheep meat, skin, wool products and associated by-products.   One of the five largest flour mills in NSW is in Dubbo plus pet food manufacturers who distribute throughout Australia.
The Dubbo Regional Livestock Markets have become a major livestock marketing facility, in fact they have grown to be the largest saleyards in the nation in terms of combined sheep and cattle throughput.
A multi-million dollar facility renowned as one of the nation’s major regional livestock selling centres - operating for more than 50 years.

The former Talbragar Shire Council erected the original selling facilities in 1950 at this same location.
Present throughput value of stock sold is running at about $250 million per annum.

Bookings for sheep and cattle sales are made direct with selling agents.
Facilities are available for the regular sale of cattle, sheep, pigs and goats. 
  • Excess of 1.3 million sheep and 200,000 cattle sold each year.
  • Market leader, being one of the early saleyards to achieve Quality Assurance status under the National Saleyards Quality Assurance program and has also implemented an Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

  • Fat cattle sales: held each Thursday from 8.00am. Almost all cattle are sold by auction by the live weight method, with weighing taking place following sale. 
  • Store cattle sales: held as required, conducted by open auction method of selling and generally held each second Friday of the year. 
  • Fat sheep and lamb sales: held regularly each Monday starting at 12noon. 
  • Pigs: sales conducted by arrangement. 
  • Goats: sales held as required.

Ute trays, steel and aluminium truck trailers, steel housing frames, shed frames and trusses, gates, fencing, sheds and cattle yards are products distributed nationally from Dubbo.
The Macquarie Valley has long been known as a fertile area.  Dubbo is the major centre for the surrounding wheat, sheep, cattle and cropping country.  Locals and visitors can enjoy the fresher, tastier produce from local producers, at the Dubbo Farmer's Markets
There are over three and a half thousand businesses in Dubbo City with an Industry turnover in the range of $2.52 billion.

On the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, locals and visitors alike, can enjoy the great atmosphere, alfresco dining, playground and the feast of the fresher, tastier produce from local producers, at the Dubbo Farmer's MarketsFresh Produce, poultry, coffee, jams, preserves, Olive Oil, sourdough bread and much more.
Held from 8 am to 12 noon at, The Macquarie Lions Park, situated behind the Information Centre on the corner of Newell Highway and Macquarie Street, Dubbo.
